Endoscope Camera Cable
Endoscope camera cables connect chip-on-tip CMOS image sensors to the video processing unit through insertion tubes as narrow as 2.8 mm in diameter. The cable must carry HD or 4K video signals (LVDS, HD-SDI, or MIPI CSI-2), survive over one million flex cycles during insertion and articulation, fit within shared lumens alongside irrigation and biopsy channels, and meet ISO 10993 biocompatibility requirements for patient contact.
We manufacture micro coaxial endoscope camera cables from 4 to 64 cores using 42–46 AWG elements with ePTFE dielectric. Bundle OD ranges from 1.2 mm (4-core 46 AWG for capsule endoscopy) to 6.0 mm (64-core 42 AWG for EUS). Available in single-use (cost-optimized) and reusable (high-flex, autoclave-compatible) constructions.

Video Signal Bandwidth
| Resolution | Protocol | Data Rate | Max Cable Length (42 AWG ePTFE) |
| SD (480p) | Composite | 6 MHz | > 5 m — no limitation |
| HD (1080p30) | HD-SDI / LVDS | 1.5 Gbps | 4.0 m |
| HD (1080p60) | HD-SDI / LVDS | 3.0 Gbps | 3.5 m |
| 4K (2160p30) | MIPI CSI-2 | 6 Gbps | 3.0 m |
| 4K (2160p60) | MIPI CSI-2 | 12 Gbps | 2.5 m (may need signal re-drive) |
4K at 60 fps over 3+ meters is the frontier challenge for endoscope cables. At 12 Gbps, cable attenuation at 6 GHz fundamental frequency requires either 44 AWG (lower capacitance), active signal equalization at the CMOS sensor, or limiting cable length to 2.5 m. We support all three approaches depending on your system architecture.
Autoclave and Chemical Compatibility
| Sterilization Method | PFA Jacket (Reusable) | FEP Jacket (Single-Use) | PVC Jacket |
| Autoclave 134°C steam | ✓ 1,000+ cycles | ✓ 200+ cycles | ✗ Not compatible |
| Glutaraldehyde (Cidex) | ✓ Excellent | ✓ Good | ✓ Limited cycles |
| OPA (Cidex OPA) | ✓ Excellent | ✓ Good | ✓ Limited cycles |

For reusable endoscopes, PFA jacket is the standard recommendation — compatible with all common high-level disinfection and sterilization methods used in endoscope reprocessing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum cable OD for a 3.8 mm insertion tube?
Signal cable allocation within a 3.8 mm insertion tube is typically 30–40% of cross-section after subtracting biopsy channel, air/water, illumination, and articulation wires. Available cable space: approximately 1.8–2.4 mm diameter. A 6-core 42 AWG bundle at 2.4 mm OD fits; for tighter constraint, a 4-core 44 AWG at 1.4 mm OD provides maximum remaining space for other lumens.
How do single-use and reusable endoscope cables differ?
Conductor construction (7-strand vs. 19-strand), jacket material (FEP vs. PFA), dielectric (FEP vs. ePTFE), and shield coverage (82% vs. 88%). Single-use is optimized for cost ($3–5 vs. $12–18) with adequate performance for 1–10 procedures. Reusable is optimized for longevity with 500,000+ flex cycles and autoclave compatibility.
Can you supply cables compatible with OV6946 or OV6948 CMOS sensors?
Yes. OmniVision OV6946 (400×400, MIPI) and OV6948 (200×200, parallel) are the most common chip-on-tip sensors. We design cables matching the sensor interface pinout and signal protocol. Share your sensor selection and PCB layout — we will specify the optimal cable configuration.
What connector termination do you provide?
For the proximal end (video processor): I-PEX, HIROSE, custom ZIF, or board-to-wire. For the distal end (sensor PCB): micro solder pads, wire bonding, or flex circuit termination. We provide terminated cables ready for your assembly process.

Applications
Ultrasound Probe & Transducer
Modern 3D ultrasound probes contain 128–512 piezoelectric elements requiring precisely matched electrical path lengths for accurate beamforming. Multi-core micro coaxial cable provides per-channel shielding with phase-matched construction, serving as the core interconnect for GE, Philips, Siemens, and Mindray platforms.
Medical Endoscope Camera
Endoscope insertion tubes of 2–4 mm diameter must transmit HD/4K video while enduring 1M+ flex cycles. Using 42–46 AWG stranded conductors, OD achieves as small as 1.2 mm, supporting HD-SDI and 4K LVDS signals while meeting ISO 10993 biocompatibility requirements.
Robotic Surgery Cable
Robotic surgery arms must carry imaging signals, electrosurgical RF power, motor drive currents, and fiber optic illumination through ±270° articulating joints — all within a single hybrid assembly. Micro coaxial elements serve as the signal core, qualified to 5 million torsional flex cycles.
NDT Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT / TOFD)
Weld inspection and corrosion mapping in petrochemical, nuclear, and aerospace industries use PAUT and TOFD — requiring 16–256 core, phase-matched ±1%, 50 Ω micro coaxial bundles with industrial PUR/FEP/PTFE jackets, compliant with ASME V and EN 583-2 standards.
MRI-Compatible Device Cables
The MRI bore presents three electromagnetic environments requiring all metals to pass ASTM F2503 ferromagnetic assessment. Non-magnetic silver-plated copper alloy conductors meet 1.5T/3T MRI safety requirements for MRI-guided interventions, coil connections, and CT detector array interconnects.
Semiconductor / Industrial Robotics / Aerospace
Semiconductor wafer AOI inspection, industrial robot joint routing, and aerospace sensor arrays all demand high-density, fine-gauge cables with tight impedance control and signal integrity — areas where micro coaxial cable delivers unmatched performance in high-frequency transmission, channel isolation, and compact construction.
